Art? If can't, what kind of art is this?

I remember (in the 70s) when Judy Chicago went around the US
raising money for her group to complete "The Dinner Party"
and the (frankly silly) arguments she had to deal with
that this was somehow not "art"
because they used and produced objects of daily living
